Professional
Pilot Career Programs

Flying is a career of choice for anyone looking for a challenge. The mastery of this skill, over a lifetime, is rewarded with
above average pay, association with a highly respected group of individuals and the continual satisfaction of a job well done.
In order to achieve your goals effectively, Montair is able to offer you its Professional Pilot Career Program. This is designed for those who have no prior flight training experience enabling you to train all the way through to a
fully qualified, commercial airline ready pilot.
The Professional Program aims to meet your goals as efficiently and as
cost effectively as possible, with instructors who can fit your training schedule to your individual needs.
Montair offers two timelines for this program:
|
It begins with you obtaining the
Private Pilot
Licence, which will allow you to fly single
engine aircraft during day VFR (Visual Flight Rules). Upon completion of the Private Pilot
Licence, you will earn a Night Rating - allowing you to fly VFR at night.
The next step is to choose an option below (for example, the
multi
engine instrument
rating, which you will do in our turbocharged Seneca
aircraft. Upon successful completion, you will have the privilege of being able to fly aircraft with one or more engines during day or night VFR and IFR (using instruments
only).

In order to be able to work for pay as a professional pilot, you will then need to complete the training required to receive your
Commercial
Pilot Licence with one of the following options:
-
Option 1, the Multi
Engine Rating and
Single
Engine Instrument Rating
allows you to fly aircraft with more than one engine day or night VFR and
single engine aircraft day or night IFR.
-
Option 2, the Airline option
which includes the Multi
Engine Instrument Rating
that allows you to fly aircraft with on or more engines during day or night VFR/IFR. This rating exceeds the training required for Option 1 allowing you to fly
multi engine aircraft day or night IFR.
-
Option 3, the Flight Instructor option
which includes the Flight Instructor Rating that allows you to teach student pilots to fly. The Flight Instructor
Rating can be earned any time after completion of a Commercial Pilot
Licence. It is our recommendation that this rating be pursued after completing either Option 1 or 2.
All of this training is done to meet and exceed International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and so is recognized and transferable between ICAO member countries.
We can also provide turbine aircraft training, which will ease your transition into the world of even faster and more complex aircraft. Montair is the only flight school in Western Canada to offer turbine aircraft training to its students. This jet transition program utilizes the reliable Beechcraft King Air
C90, the same aircraft that is also used for our charter flight operations.
This experience will help you to make a smooth transition to larger jet aircraft and will give you a huge advantage when it comes to securing your first job.
Montair Aviation has the facilities, aircraft and professional staff to successfully, efficiently and enjoyably guide you through each step of your training.
At the end of your time with us, not only will you be a qualified commercial pilot, but also an
'airline-ready' professional pilot!
